Bluehost, WordPress, Div…

What are they – and why do I need them?!

How do they matter to you?

If you are still nurturing the intention or have taken preliminary steps into either owning a blog or a web page to market your brand, then you must have heard keywords like Bluehost, WordPress, Divi or probably will in no time.

How do they matter to you? In a simple language, they are the basic and essential requirements you need to build and set your site running from scratch. I know that’s not enough. Don’t bother as we will be considering each of them to have a better idea of what they are and how they matter to your project.

First, I would like to give a simple analogy of these systems to help the newbies have a clear picture before we go into more details. Now, consider Bluehost to be a plot of land that you own, WordPress is the deed to that land while Divi (Divi theme) represents the framework to the building, and the web design is the decor inside of the site. Does that make more sense? Having said this, let us now go into more details as promised.

What is Bluehost?

Bluehost is one of the largest web hosting services around today. They are one of the most trusted hosting providers, and they currently power over two million websites worldwide.
What is Bluehost used for?
It is used for hosting websites online, and for purchasing domain names. To have a website you need two things, web hosting, and a domain name. The unique thing about the Bluehost is that they offer both.
I can also add that Bluehost is like a digital landlord (Web servers). You only rent space where you store the files for your site. You can also use them to register the domain of your site which is like your address.
Why is Bluehost recommended over other hosting services?
One of the reasons why we recommend Bluehost to all of our readers is cost. They offer web hosting services for as low as $2.95/month which is relatively affordable. Again, it is easy to set up. They make setting up a site quick and much easy with just a click of a button.

Additional to the domain, and hosting they provide – Bluehost also included five email addresses in their basic plan, and more as you get larger plans. For the cost per month, this is a MUCH better deal than even google can provide.

Another question that should occur to you is; ‘how do I manage my website? This takes us to the WordPress.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a publishing platform that makes it easy for anyone to publish online. It is simply a software that allows you to manage the content of your site more easily than building pages from scratch.  Luckily Bluehost makes it simple and easy as they already have wordpress installed into their platform. So no need for additional file installion. Be careful though as there is a difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.  For this application we use WordPress.org, see why this is the better selection for a web development project:

WordPress is currently the most popular tool for building websites. With it, you can build any style of website ranging from a simple blog to the complete featured e-commerce site. If you’ve never built a site before then it’s recommended for you. Why? This is because you won’t be needing any coding or design skills to create a professional looking site. There may be a large learning curve, however with the internet – anything is possible to learn. WordPress provides free themes, and aou can choose a theme that handles the look and functionality of the site while you add your content through a Web interface. This is where the Divi comes in.

What is Divi?

Divi,by Elegant Themes is a WordPress theme that will allow you to customize all the elements that make up your web pages. This new premium page builder from ElegantThemes has an innovative drag-and-drop layout system that is extremely flexible and powerful.
It would be right to think that Divi is a component of the WordPress. This means that you can only compare it to other themes and page builders. For better understanding, you can also take WordPress to be the Platform while Divi represents the theme.

I believe by now you should have a better understanding of the Bluehost, WordPress and Divi and what roles they play in getting you your dream site. Isn’t it? Now, it doesn’t matter if you have never owned a site before, you can go for one. What are you waiting for?
